Geographical Location

The town is located 12 kilometers northwest of Kluczbork (cross castle in Upper Silesia ) and 70 kilometers east of Breslau. It is bathed in the Brinnitze ( Brynica ), a tributary of the Stober.

History

A document of Duke Henry III. of Silesia from January 22, 1261 shows that the hitherto "big forest " place indicated was provided with Neumarkt law and henceforth called Fürstenthal. 1293 was the mention as Kunstadt, 1294 then as Cunzinstadt. In the north of the city, at the site of today's evangelical church, there was a robber baron's castle, which was taken on January 17, 1461 by Duke Konrad X the White of Oels and Breslauer citizens and looped.

1742, the city fell to the great part of Silesia to Prussia, and in 1816 the county Kreuzburg OS assigned to the the district Breslau and then the Upper Silesian Region of Opole was a member until 1820.

After the Second World War Konstadt was placed under Polish administration in 1945, which gave the place its name Wołczyn, the remaining German population was expelled.
