Wolęcin, Opole Voivodeship

Want Chin (Polish Wolęcin ) is a 150 inhabitants village with mayor's office in the bilingual rural community Radlau ( Radłów ) in the powiat Oleski in the Opole Voivodeship.

Geography

Want Chin is located in the northeast of the Opole Province, northeast of the county town Olesno (Rosenberg OS) and in the north of Upper Silesia.

West of Want Chin springs from the river Prosna.

History

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921 voted 48 voters to remain in Germany and 89 for belonging to Poland. Want Chin remained with the German Reich. Between 27 April 1936 and 1945 it was known as Wollendorf OS On April 1, 1939 Wollendorf was in Ammern O.S. incorporated. By 1945 Wollendorf was part of the district Rosenberg OS

In 1945 Wollendorf under Polish administration and renamed Wolęcin and connected to the Silesian Voivodeship. With the division of the Silesian Province in the Opole Voivodeship and the place came to Katowice Voivodeship Opole. From 1975 to 1998 Want Chin was in the province of Czestochowa. In 1999 the place after the dissolution of Częstochowa Voivodeship Opole Voivodeship and back to the restored powiat Oleski.

2006 Want Chin was officially bilingual together with the community Radlau and in September 2008 bilingual town signs were erected.
