Wolfgang Dimetrik

Wolfgang Dimetrik ( born January 6, 1974 in Eibiswald, Styria ) is an Austrian accordionist.

He received his first accordion lessons at the age of six years. From the age of 11 Dimetrik was informed on Johann Joseph Fux Conservatory in Graz by Prof. Erwin Moder. In 1991 he passed the entrance examination at the Graz University of Music. This was followed by the accordion studies with guest Prof. Mogens Ellegaard, James Crabb and Geir Draugsvoll. 1992 Abitur at the Music High School in Graz. After the diploma examination in 1996 Dimetrik changes to the Hermann Zilcher Conservatory, Würzburg, in the class of Stefan Hussong. 2001 Artistic diploma. 2003 master class diploma at the Academy of Music, Würzburg.

Wolfgang Dimetrik is a representative of the classical accordion. His repertoire ranges from the interpretation of baroque and classical works to playback original modern music for accordion.

He is the winner of various competitions ( VAMÖ Competition Vienna, German Conservatory competition Nuremberg). Master classes with Geir Draugsvoll, Holland; Mie Miki- Schenk, Germany; Joseph Macerollo, Canada.

In addition to solo concerts Wolfgang Dimetrik also occurs as a chamber musician, for example, with musikFabrik North Rhine -Westphalia, the New Hanover ensemble, ensemble recherche, the Ensemble Modern and the Ensemble SurPlus.

  • 2001: World premiere of Arnold Schoenberg's The lucky hand with the United Ensemble Berlin, Peter Hirsch line.
  • 2003: premiere of the play song for orchestra by Jörg Widmann with the Bamberg Symphony under Jonathan Nott.
  • 2004: World premiere of Isabel Mundry Folded time with the ensemble recherche and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra under Peter Rundel.
  • 2007: world premiere of Christopher Brandt Sonata 332, Flower painting.
  • 2007: World premiere Marko Zdraleks Deux espace imaginaire.

Wolfgang Dimetrik is also a teacher at the Vocational School of Music in Altötting.
