Peter Rundel

Peter Rundel (* 1958 in Friedrichshafen, Germany ) is a German violinist and conductor.

Peter Rundel studied with Igor Ozim and Ramy Shevelor violin, with Jack Brimberg composition, with Michael Gielen and Péter Eötvös conducting. In the years 1984-1996 Rundel Geiger was the Ensemble Modern. As a violinist he performed pieces by Luigi Nono, Morton Feldman and John Cage.

Since 1987, Peter Rundel has been active as a conductor. His work focuses on contemporary music. It goes back many years of collaboration with the Ensemble Modern, the ensemble recherche and the sound Wien. Besides his work as a guest conductor Rundel led the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Flanders, the Ensemble Oriol, the Potsdam Chamber Academy and the Vienna Taschenoper. Rundel directed musical theater productions at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Bavarian State Opera, the Vienna Festival, the Bregenz Festival, the Vienna Volksoper, and the Ruhr Triennale. He worked there together with directors Peter Konwitschny, Philippe Arlaud, Joachim Schloemer and Willy Decker.

In the scenic premiere of Karlheinz Stockhausen Sunday of light from the light opera cycle in the State House of Cologne, he had the musical direction along with Kathinka.

Rundel is married and has two children.
