Jonathan Nott

Jonathan Nott ( born December 25, 1962 in Solihull ) is an English conductor. Since January 2000 he has held the post of chief conductor of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra - Bavarian State Philharmonic. His contract runs until 2016.

On 29 October 2009 he was awarded the Bavarian Culture Prize. His recording of Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 9 with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra was recently awarded the International Record Prize " Toblach Composing " in 2009 ( category " new productions " ) and the MIDEM Classical Award 2010 ( category " Symphonic Works ").

Training and artistic stations

Jonathan Nott studied music at the University of Cambridge, vocals and flute in Manchester and conducting in London. His dirigentisches debut was in 1988 at the opera festival in Batignano. The following year, he became Kapellmeister at the Frankfurt Opera, before 1991, the post of first Kapellmeister at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden took over a house which he also headed an interim basis as general music director in the 1995/1996 season. National and international career

In January 2000, Jonathan Nott took over the post of chief conductor of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra - Bavarian State Philharmonic. A complete recording of Schubert 's symphonies was supplemented by two CDs of contemporary materials that programmatically deal with the theme of " Schubert ", including Compositions by Hans Werner Henze, Wolfgang Rihm, Jörg Widmann and Bruno Mantovani.

Guest Conductor

As a guest conductor Jonathan Nott has worked since the 1990s, with virtually every major symphony orchestras of Europe and the United States together, including the Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, the NDR Symphony Orchestra in Hamburg, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Orchestre de Paris and the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, the Vienna and the Munich Philharmonic, New York, Los Angeles and London Philharmonic and the NHK Symphony Orchestra Tokyo. Life

Jonathan Nott is married to an Englishwoman Helen Nott. The couple has two sons and a daughter.
