Jonathan Nott
Jonathan Nott ( born December 25, 1962 in Solihull ) is an English conductor. Since January 2000 he has held the post of chief conductor of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra - Bavarian State Philharmonic. His contract runs until 2016.
On 29 October 2009 he was awarded the Bavarian Culture Prize. His recording of Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 9 with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra was recently awarded the International Record Prize " Toblach Composing " in 2009 ( category " new productions " ) and the MIDEM Classical Award 2010 ( category " Symphonic Works ").
Training and artistic stations
Jonathan Nott studied music at the University of Cambridge, vocals and flute in Manchester and conducting in London. His dirigentisches debut was in 1988 at the opera festival in Batignano. The following year, he became Kapellmeister at the Frankfurt Opera, before 1991, the post of first Kapellmeister at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden took over a house which he also headed an interim basis as general music director in the 1995/1996 season. Jonathan Nott conducted in the Hessian capital a broad spectrum of opera, ballet and musical literature, especially the great works of Mozart, Verdi, Puccini and Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen. Later, the British went as music director of the Lucerne Theatre and was also chief conductor of the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra (1997-2002 ). As of July 2014, Nott Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor to the Young German Philharmonic, the advisory work he will begin as early as 2013.
Chief conductor of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra
National and international career
In January 2000, Jonathan Nott took over the post of chief conductor of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra - Bavarian State Philharmonic. With the orchestra he has performed since the beginning of his tenure at the major music festivals at home and abroad, and there was extensive tours throughout Germany and Europe, China, and several times to Japan, South America and the United States.

Artistic work
The Jonathan Nott maintained in Bamberg repertoire ranges from Viennese Classicism through the masterpieces of the 19th century and the classic modern to contemporary music. One focus of his artistic work initially formed the confrontation with the symphonic Franz Schubert, which was combined with works from the 20th and 21st centuries. 2008 Jonathan Nott brought in Bamberg all nine symphonies of Ludwig van Beethoven on four evenings for Performance, 2009, he conducted a cycle of the symphonies of Johannes Brahms. CD recordings
The artistic partnership Jonathan Nott and the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra - Bavarian State Philharmonic documented in numerous CD productions. Released are recordings of Mahler Symphonies No. 1, 2 ( Resurrection Symphony ), 3, 4, 5 and 9, of Anton Bruckner's Symphony No. 3 ( first version 1873) by Igor Stravinsky's Le sacre du printemps and Symphony in Three Movements and Leoš Janáček's Sinfonietta, Taras Bulba and the Suite from the Cunning Little Vixen. A complete recording of Schubert 's symphonies was supplemented by two CDs of contemporary materials that programmatically deal with the theme of " Schubert ", including Compositions by Hans Werner Henze, Wolfgang Rihm, Jörg Widmann and Bruno Mantovani.
Guest Conductor
As a guest conductor Jonathan Nott has worked since the 1990s, with virtually every major symphony orchestras of Europe and the United States together, including the Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, the NDR Symphony Orchestra in Hamburg, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Orchestre de Paris and the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, the Vienna and the Munich Philharmonic, New York, Los Angeles and London Philharmonic and the NHK Symphony Orchestra Tokyo. With the Berlin Philharmonic played Jonathan Nott complete orchestral works of György Ligeti 's Requiem, including one on CD.
Life
Jonathan Nott is married to an Englishwoman Helen Nott. The couple has two sons and a daughter.
