Wolfgang Katzheimer

Wolfgang Katzheimer the Elder ( * 1450, † 1508) was a German painter and graphic artist, who was in the service of the bishops of Bamberg.

Katzheimer is attributed to the first Bamberg City portrait. Created The adoption of the Apostles, probably for the Apostle Altar of Bamberger Martin Church and now in the Historical Museum Bamberg, shows the farewell participating Acts against the backdrop of the city of Bamberg. In the background are the old castle to see the Upper Parish of the Bamberg Cathedral and the monastery Michel mountain.
