Wolfgang Plath

Wolfgang Plath (* December 27, 1930 in Riga, † March 19, 1995 in Augsburg ) was a musicologist and Mozart scholar.

Life and work

Wolfgang Plath studied musicology at Walter Gerstenberg first at the Free University of Berlin, then at the University of Tübingen. In 1958 he was there his doctorate with a thesis on Bach's " Klavierbüchlein for Wilhelm Friedemann Bach".

1959 moved Plath as an assistant to Ernst Fritz Schmid to Augsburg and was together with Wolfgang Rehm Edition Head of the New Mozart Edition. Several times he also served as an Honorary Professor in Augsburg and Salzburg.
