Wolfram Wagner

Wolfram Wagner ( born September 28, 1962 in Vienna) is an Austrian composer and flutist.

After studying composition with Erich Urbanner and Francis Burt in Vienna, with Robert Saxton in London as well as a guest student at Hans Zender in Frankfurt since 1992 has been professor of music theory and composition at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Guest lectures he gave at the Paris Conservatoire and at the universities of Amsterdam and Greensboro / USA.

Works

Vocal music for choir and solo voices; 5 stage works ( opera and ballet ); numerous orchestral works; various chamber music and solo forms.

Awards

  • Würdigungspreis of Lower Austria (2008)
  • Promotion Award of the Federal Chancellery and State Scholarship for Composers (1998)
  • Publicity Prize Austro Mechana (1995 )
  • Composer in Residence at the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, London ( 1993)
