Wolverine (Band)

Wolverine is a progressive metal band from Sweden, which was founded in 1995 by Stefan Zell and Marcus Losbjer.

History

Soon after founding the band met the brother of Stefan Zell, Mikael joined the band. When the band released their first EP Fervent Dream in Zizania Entertainment Group in November 1999, the band's style had been changed Progressive Metal. Fervent Dream made ​​the band known worldwide. The EP was sold out within a short time. During this time the band played for the first time live outside Sweden. In 2000 the band signed a contract with Emerald Factory. In spring 2001, Fervent Dream was released as a remastered version, with two bonus songs were included. During the summer, the band toured through Germany, and then recorded the album The Window Purpose, which was released in December 2001 with the new label " DVS Records ". Also, this album has been hailed by critics and fans. Among other things, it was voted " Album of the Month " by the Dutch metal magazine Aardschok. After publication Wolverine launched an extensive European tour. 2002, a contract with Elitist Records was signed. There in 2003 the album Cold Light of Monday has been released. Live, the band played in 2003 including London as the opening act of Anathema. The band released the album 2005 The Window Purpose. While the artwork was changed and the recordings were remixed, the album is now contained a new recording of the title Fervent Dream. Later in the same year played Wolverine for the third time on the ProgPower Europe festival headlining along with Pain of Salvation. In 2006, the band split again by the label Elitist / Earache Records and signed with Candlelight Records. The fourth studio album, Still was released, which was recorded at Spacelab Studios in Germany. The album contains 9 songs which defined the from then on Wolverine distinctive sound. Andreas " Bagge " Baglien left after 8 years of the band and was replaced by Per Henriksson. 2010 was supposed to appear the album Communication Lost. After some members have left the band in 2009, the release date of the new album was unclear. "Communication Lost" was published on May 23, 2011.

Style

Wolverine played at the beginning of Death Metal with melodic influences. With the release of the first EP, the band joined the progressive metal bearing, this band plays a unique, very atmospheric sound. Here are also borrowings from other genres such as Trip Hop processed.
