Candlelight Records

Candlelight Records is a company founded by former Extreme Noise Terror bassist Lee Barrett independent label based in London. The stylistic focus of the label is on Black Metal and Death Metal. For current roster includes bands like Obituary, Nachtmystium, Absu and 1349. Particular reputation gained the label by the publication of the first albums of Opeth, the first EP of Enslaved and the overall work of the character defining Norwegian black metal band Emperor. The recordings of personnel associated with Emperor groups such as cyclone, Peccatum or Ihsahn appeared over candlelight.

In addition to the realization of own productions Candlelight acquired in the course of its history again and again the rights of attractive back catalog titles from other record companies. In 1999, several albums of renowned Death rock band Christian Death in the 1980s and 1990s were re-released via Candlelight. 2002 and 2003 published under license from Misanthropy Records reissues of albums by Arcturus ( Aspera hiems symfonia, La Masquerade Infernal ), Ved Buens end ( Written in Waters) and Fleurety (Min tid skal come ), which at the time already considered classics of the avant-garde Norwegian Black Metal were. 2010 Candlelight published new editions of the entire back catalog of the Norwegian symphonic black metal band Limbonic Art

Candlelights subsidiary company for the North American market, Candlelight Records USA, also licensed the repertoire of European labels for this territory. Thus, a licensing agreement with the French metal label Appease Me in 2004, for example, concluded in 2005 a license agreement with AFM Records from Germany.
