Women's Baseball World Cup

The Baseball World Women's Championship is an international baseball tournament from the International Baseball Federation ( IBAF ) is discharged. It takes place every two years in years instead of even-numbered years.

The first baseball world championship of women took place in Edmonton ( Canada ) in August 2004. The currently last in 2012 also in Edmonton.

Record champion is the team from Japan won three titles.

History

Before the World Cup there was only one international tournament for women, the Woman's Baseball World Series. This took place in 2001, after the successful match between the U.S. and Japan in Tokyo in 2000, for the first time and was organized held annually. Gradually, Canada, Australia, Korea, India, South Korea and Chinese Taipei joined the tournament. In 2002, the IBAF decided from 2004 World Cup for women to perform. After 2004, the World Series degenerated into a purely American affair. The teams had the World Series were connected through to the World Cup. The number of participants varies between five nations (2004) and eleven ( 2010).

Participant

In total, 13 teams signed up for the various sweeps, 12 of which were then actually on. The teams from Australia, Canada, Japan, Chinese Taipei and the United States participated in all five preceding editions.

Notes:

  • The teams from Bulgaria and India were reported in 2004, but withdrew before the start of the tournament.
  • The team moved from Hong Kong in 2010 after an incident in which a player was injured after the second game back.
