Wonderful Rainbow

Wonderful Rainbow is the third album by the American noise rock band Lightning Bolt. It is considered eingänglichstes her album and was released in spring 2003 on Load Records.

The album appeared in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die, where the band is called the nastiest drum -and- bass band of all time. However, the bassist Brian Gibson is incorrectly listed in the book as a guitarist.

Reception

Tiny Mix Tapes classified the album as the third best album of the 2000s.

Pitchfork Media placed the album at # 157 of the " Top 200 Albums of the 2000s". The critic Marc Masters wrote on the occasion of placement about the album:

" All in all, the effect of [ the album ] is less redundant than generous, so Wonderful Rainbow is like a pot of gold at the end of a further invigorating the Assumption. "

2003 Pitchfork Media awarded an 8.4 out of 10.0 points on the album.

Rick Anderson awarded 4/5 points on the board and writes at allmusic:

"The album is as if a beautiful girl you repeatedly hit with a baseball bat to the head. Imagine the best aspects of Fred Frith, Derek Bailey, The Ruins, Slayer, and Ornette Coleman before and throw it all in the blender. Then imagine on speed. [ The album ] here is an overseer! "
