World Series of Video Games

The World Series of Video Games ( WSVG ) was a global e-sports tournament series. It was founded in 2006 as an unofficial successor of the CPL World Tour, as it was also sponsored by Intel and many of the former CPL staff participated in it. Was hosted by the company Games Media Properties. The second World Series of Video Games in 2007, was canceled during the current season, on September 12, the end of the WSVG was announced.

2006

In the first season were Counter- Strike, Warcraft III and Quake 4, the main disciplines, and there were in North America and tournaments in the Xbox games Project Gotham Racing 3, Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter and Halo 2 The total prize money was U.S. $ 750,000. There were a total of five stops and a final event.

2007

2007 was again announced a World Series of Video Games. As disciplines were Quake 4, Fight Night Round 3, Guitar Hero II and World of Warcraft selected. The game selection came in many places amazement. The new WSVG tournaments found in e- sports only little attention, it has been reported almost exclusively on Quake 4 and the minor tournaments.

On September 12, 2007, after three completed events, the demolition of the World Series of Video Games 2007 was announced. Games Media Properties stated that the orientation of the tournament series was not profitable enough.
