World Summit Award

World Summit Award (short: WSA) is a global initiative to improve and disseminate digital services and content. An overarching goal of the WSA, for example, to bridge the digital divide. The initiative is supported by countries and organizations around the world, for example, also support the UNIDO and UNESCO the World Summit Award.

Foundation

The World Summit Award was initiated by the Austrian government in discussions held in 2003, the World Summit on the Information Society.

Today, support more than 160 countries of the United Nations, private organizations and social as well as political personalities the World Summit Award.

The ESC are committed to the UN Millennium Development Goals. The Office of the World Summit Award in Salzburg.

Activities

The World Summit Award is given every two years as part of a competition particularly innovative and outstanding Internet-based content, concepts and applications. The final ceremony took place in 2009. Prizes will be awarded in eight categories:
