Wright (lunar crater)

Wright is an impact crater on the far southwestern edge of the lunar front side and is therefore invisible, either as a result of libration or appear severely distorted.

Its diameter is nearly 39 kilometers. North of Wright is the crater Pettit.

Southwest of the crater Shaler and south of it is the Vallis Bouvard.

The crater has a secondary craters, Wright A; it lies approximately half a crater diameter to the south- southwest, along the edge of the Montes Cordillera.

The crater was of the IAU by the American astronomer Frederick Eugene Wright (1877-1953) and William Hammond Wright (1871-1959) and after the British philosopher Thomas Wright (1711-1786) officially named in 1964.
