Wulgrin II of Angoulême

Vulgin II (also Wulfgrin; † September 16, 1140 in Bouteville ) was a Count of Angoulême Taillefer out of the house. He was a son of Count William V Taillefer and Vitapoi of Bénauges.

He was born in the 11th century, as he then made a donation to Saint- Pierre d'Angoulême with his father in the 1090er years. He was married in first marriage with Pontia, a daughter of Roger de Poitevin Montgomery, Count of La Marche. The Norman Family Montgomery competed with the old-established house of Lusignan for the possession of the county of La Marche and Vulgrin moved by his marriage the enmity of the Lusignan up. In 1127 attacked Hugo VII of Lusignan and Godfrey I of Rancon the belongings of the castle of Montignac, but Vulgrin could the attacker successfully fight back.

Vulgrin died at the castle Bouteville and was buried in the Abbey of Saint- Cybard in Angoulême.

From his first marriage with Pontia of La Marche he had a son and heir, William VI. Taillefer († 1179 ).

His second wife was Amable, a daughter of the Viscount Amalric I of Chatellerault. Their children were Fulk and Gottfried Martel.
