Xi Andromedae
Adhil ( as ξ Andromedae (Xi Andromedae ), short ξ And, and referred 46 Andromedae ) is a star in the constellation Andromeda. The name Adhil comes from the Arabic language. الذيل / AD DAYL might be translated as " drag".
It is an orange giant star of spectral type K0 IIIb with an apparent magnitude of 4.90 m. Adhil is about 214 light-years (66 parsecs ) from Earth.
In the Bright Star Catalog from 1991 Adhil was classified as spectroscopic binary with an orbital period of the components of 17.77 days. A recent study of 2008 is, however, probably a single star.
