Xolile Yawa

Xolile Yawa ( born September 29, 1962 in Lady Frere, Emalahleni ) is a former South African long-distance runner.

In 1987 he exhibited at 1:02:30 h with a South African record in the half marathon and with 27:44,65 min and his personal best time of 27:39,65 min two national records in the 10,000 -meter run. Overall, it was these distances eleven times South African champion, nine times more than 10,000 m ( 1985-1990, 1992, 1994, 1996 ) and twice in the half marathon (1986, 1988).

In 1992 he won the bronze medal in the 10,000 meter run at the African Championships in Mauritius. About the same distance in the same year he won at the Olympic Games in Barcelona the 13th Place.

In the following years, Yawa concentrated more to the marathon. In 1993 he won the Berlin Marathon in a time of 2:10:57 h 1995, he was a personal best of 2:10:22 h fourth in the London Marathon. After a stress fracture had prevented participation in the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, he was the following year at the Twelfth Marathon of the World Athletics Championships in Athens.

Xolile Yawa had a competition weight of 50 kg at a height of 1.69 m.
