Ya'akov Margi

Margi Jacob (Hebrew יעקב מרגי; born November 18, 1960 in Morocco) is an Israeli politician.

Life

Margi was born in 1960 in Morocco and brought by the operation Jachin in 1962 to Israel.

Between 1993 and 2003 he was Chairman of the Religious Council of Be'er Sheva. Between 2001 and 2003 he was Secretary General of Shas. In 2003 he was first elected to the Knesset. Following his re -election in 2006 was Margi Group Chairman of his party in parliament. Short term he was also chairman of the Budget Committee of the Knesset. In 2009 moved Margi entered parliament and held from March 31 2009 to March 18, 2013 the post of Minister for services to religion in the government of Benjamin Netanyahu.

Margi lives in Moshav Sde Zvi ( שְׂדֵה צְבִי, lit. Zevi field), is married and has two sons.
