Yakup Kılıç

Yakup Kılıç ( born July 13, 1986 in Elazig ) is a Turkish boxer. He won a bronze medal in the featherweight at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

Career

Originally from Eastern Anatolia Yakup Kılıç began as a teenager with the boxes and was named after the first national successes member of the sports club Fenerbahçe SK. With 1.77 meters, it is one for a featherweight ( weight category to 57 kg) relatively great boxer, but a positive effect on its reach. He was already as a junior to the Turkish top boxers and was founded in 2003 in Warsaw, European vice-champion of the junior flyweight.

In 2004, he was with a victory over Ali Bogurcu Turkish champion in the senior featherweight. This is the only result that is known of his starts in Turkish championships.

The international career of Yakup Kılıç in the seniors began in 2005. This year he won at the Mediterranean Games in Almería / Spain featherweight 3rd place. In the semifinals, he lost it against Ovidiu Bobîrnat from Cyprus by points ( 24:34 ). At the 2005 World Championships in Mianyang / China he won over Aboubaker Seddik Lbida from Morocco by points ( 29:20 ), but lost in the second round against Besik Serikbajew from Kazakhstan on points ( 25:29 ) and got away with it on the 9th Place.

In 2006 he competed at the European Championships in Plovdiv. He lost there but featherweight in his first fight against Eric Donovan from Ireland on points and ended up with it on the 17th Place.

This was followed by the highly successful for Yakup Kılıç years 2007 and 2008. 2007 he won first in the championship of the European Union in Dublin with wins over Iulian Stan, Romania ( 42:21 ) and Darren Traynor, Scotland ( 29:12 ) and one defeat in the semi-final against Khedafi Djelkhir from France ( 6:32 ) a bronze medal. After that, he also convinced at the 2007 World Championships in Chicago. He suggested there featherweight Pablo Figuls, Costa Rica, Arash Usmanee, Canada and Sailmon Ardee from Thailand and was thus in the semifinals. In this, however, he could not compete against Albert Selimow from Russia because of an injury. Due to the semi-finals he had already won a World Cup bronze medal. He also won 3rd place with this already the eligibility for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

Also in Beijing, he stepped up to then perfectly prepared and came to wins over Satoshi Shimizu, Japan and Abdelkader Chadi, Algeria. In the semifinals, however, he was a chance against Vasyl Lomatschenko from Ukraine and got clear with 1:10 hits. His participation in the semi-finals but was rewarded with 3rd place and winning an Olympic bronze medal.

In 2009, Yakup Kılıç started at the Mediterranean Games in Pescara lightweight. After a victory over Giorgios Danatsidis from Cyprus where he lost in the semifinals against Domenico Valentino of Italy on points, but won so a bronze medal at an international championship. At the 2009 World Championships Kılıç approached again, but lost in the first fight against Mahdi Ouatine, Morocco ( 8:5 ).

After that he was in any international championship more at the start.
