Yanina Wickmayer

Yanina Wickmayer ( born October 20, 1989 in Lier ) is a Belgian tennis player.

Career

Wickmayer began at the age of nine, playing tennis, and since 2004 she has been a professional player. She won on the WTA tour so far three singles titles and one doubles. On the ITF Women's Circuit they recorded ten singles and eight doubles titles.

Since 2007, Wickmayer plays for the Belgian Fed Cup team, their record: 22 wins in 12 losses (as of March 5, 2014 ).

2009

In their best season Wickmayer was top 20 player and ended the year at position 18 in the WTA world rankings. She won the tournament in Estoril ( playoff victory over Ekaterina Makarova ) and Linz ( against Petra Kvitová ). She celebrated her biggest success with the semi-finals of the U.S. Open, where she defeated the Dane Caroline Wozniacki in straight sets. She also was in the final of 's- Hertogenbosch, which she lost to Tamarine Tanasugarn in the Thai two sentences.

Against Wickmayer and Xavier Malisse their compatriot imposed the Belgian anti-doping tribunal on 5 November 2009 a one-year lock. Both had failed in three cases notified in time of national anti-doping authority their whereabouts. On 14 December, a civil court lifted the lock on again.

2010

Wickmayer was linked to their success from the previous year. She won the final match against Flavia Pennetta of Auckland. At the Grand Slam tournament in Melbourne as she reached the second round ( three-set loss to her compatriot Justine Henin ) and at the U.S. Open ( three-set defeat to Kaia Kanepi, the Estonian ). At the French Open ( losing to Daniela Hantuchova Two set ) and Wimbledon ( losing to Vera Swonarjowa ) separated them from each in the third round. In Miami (Category: Premier Mandatory ) and Cincinnati (Category: Premier 5) From the Frenchwoman Marion Bartoli against the unseeded Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova or came in the quarterfinals respectively.

2011 and 2012

2011 was Wickmayer only once in a final, defending champion in Auckland. 2012 she succeeded each one -finals in Hobart (two set defeat against Mona Barthel ) and in Bad Gastein, where they defeated the Frenchwoman Alizé Cornet with 5:7 and 6:71. At Wimbledon, she lost in the third round against Tamira Paszek just in three sets.
