Yannick Jauzion

Yannick Jauzion ( born July 28, 1978 in Castres, Tarn ) is a French rugby union player who plays on the position of the inner three- quarter. He plays for Stade Toulousain and the French national team and counts on its position among the best players in the world. He is distinguished by especially the combination of speed, physicality and creativity.

Career

Jauzion on 16 June, 2001 at 32:23 victory over South Africa his debut for the French national team. The following year he moved to Toulouse, where he was simultaneously win the Heineken Cup, the most important European club trophy, with his team in his first season. He was nominated in the following for the French squad for the 2003 World Cup. In the first group match against Fiji he scored three tries. Also in the preliminary round games he played an important role and led France safely in the quarter-finals, where they won easily against Ireland. Ultimately failed the French on eventual world champions England and lost the third place match against New Zealand.

With the Six Nations 2004 France succeeded the Grand Slam. Jauzion scoring a try against Ireland and two against Scotland. With Toulouse, he failed in the finals of the Heineken Cup at the London Wasps. 2005, however, the team fought back and won the Cup again, in the final defeated to the compatriots of Stade Français after extra time with 18:12. Jauzion was voted man of the match and crowned an outstanding season with this performance. He missed due to an injury in the next edition of the Six Nations, but was again in the French squad for the World Cup. In the quarterfinals, he put the key, controversial attempt to victory over New Zealand. This achievement was preceded by analysis of television images a played forward pass, which is not allowed in rugby. In the semifinals, France failed again to England, and also the third-place match was lost, as in the preliminary round, the winner was Argentina.

The following season at first was not satisfactory for Jauzion. With the Six Nations, he was only used twice, including in the decisive defeat against Wales.
