Yasuo Tanaka (astronomer)

Yasuo Tanaka (Japanese田中 靖 郎, Yasuo Tanaka, * 1931) is a Japanese astronomer who coined the Japanese program for X-ray astronomy missions such as ASCA crucial.

Yasuo Tanaka studied at the University of Osaka. In 1974 he became a professor at the University of Tokyo and 1981 at the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science ( ISAS ). He was also a visiting scientist and external scientific member at the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics.
