Yellow Ostrich

Yellow Ostrich is an American indie rock band.

History

The band was formed in New York City in 2010 by singer and guitarist Alex Schaaf, Michael Tapper from the drummer and bass player and brass Jon Natchez. Alex Schaaf took a few months before the band's formation already on the solo album Wild Comfort. Jon Natchez previously played in Beirut, The Antlers, and Camera Obscura.

Yellow Ostrich published in 2011 their debut album The Mistress and toured as the opening act for several bands, including for The Antlers and Ra Ra Riot. In 2012 the band released their second album Strange Land.

The musical style of Yellow Ostrich is a guitar -driven indie rock in the lo-fi sound. As musical reference points designate the band the Velvet Underground, Wire and Neil Young.
