Yeshayahu Foerder

Herbert Yeshayahu Foerder (Hebrew ישעיהו פורדר; born March 25, 1901 in Charlottenburg, † June 10, 1970 in Tel Aviv ) was a German-born Israeli lawyer and politician.

Life

Yeshayahu Foerder was when Herbert Yeshayahu Foerder in Charlottenburg ( German Empire ) on 25 March 1901 as a son of Ivan Foerder and his wife Helena (née Robin son ) born. He studied law and economics at the universities of Freiburg, Heidelberg and Breslau and received his doctorate in 1923. In 1926 he married Gertrude Simon ( born Mainz), and together they have a daughter Miriam ( born 1929). From 1927 to 1933 he worked as a lawyer in Berlin. In 1933, the family traveled from in the League of Nations - mandated territory of Palestine.

In the British-controlled League of Nations mandate territory Yeshayahu committed ( Va'ad Leummi ) in the Provisional People's Council as a Member of the Aliyah Hadashah ( a party of ethnic German immigrants in Palestine) and was in the election on 25 January 1949 in the Constituent Assembly, which later became the first Knesset as a member of Miflaga Progresivit ( Progressive Party) elected. In the elections of 1951 ( second Knesset) and 1955 ( third Knesset), he moved back into the Knesset. The third legislative term he ended prematurely on 28 October 1957.

In addition to his political activities, he was co-founder of Rasco Building Company, CEO of General Mortage of Israel, Bank Leumi LeIsrael, Union Bank of Israel and the Independent Development Bank of Israel. In addition, he was board member of the Anglo - Israel Bank of London.
