Yevhen Seleznyov

Yevhen Olexandrowitsch Seleznev (Ukrainian Євген Олександрович Селезньов; Russian Евгений Александрович Селезнёв; born July 20, 1985 in Makijiwka, Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian footballer who is since August 2012 in Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk under contract.

Career

Association

Yevhen Seleznev is a product of the youth academy of FC Shakhtar Donetsk. There he got a contract in 2002, but was used in all the years only in the second (52 /19) or even third (41 /9) team.

In the winter of 2007, he was loaned to Arsenal Kiev. In the second half of the 2006/07 season he scored two goals in twelve games. In the 2007 /08 season he scored 17 goals in 24 games overall and finished with two other players ranked second in the scoring charts. After he returned from Kiev, Seleznev extended his contract for another five years. On August 3, 2008, he denied to Illitschiwez Mariupol be only the third league game for Donetsk, scoring the interim 2-0 lead and thus his first goal ever for Shakhtar.

On 25 June 2009, he spent 4.5 million euros for the league rivals Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk. On the same day he made his debut in the jersey of Dnipro and Metalist Kharkiv scored against same his first goal for his new club. After three days, he had three goals this season to his credit. In the course of the season, Seleznev has developed into a key player of the team and underlined this with 17 goals in the Premjer - Liha 2010/11 and thus scorer. On June 22, 2011 Dnepropetrovsk announced that Seleznev would return to Shakhtar Donetsk. About the transfer fee was not disclosed, it is estimated the total at about five million euros.

National

On 24 May 2008 he received his first senior international match in a friendly match against the Netherlands when he came on in the 66th minute for Andriy Shevchenko. In his third international match on November 19 of the same year he scored against Norway 1-0 winning goal, and thus his first international goal. So far Seleznev denied 42 matches in which he scored nine goals.
