Yisrael Hasson

Israel Hasson (Hebrew ישראל חסון; * April 27, 1955 in Damascus, Syria) is an Israeli politician and former deputy director of the Israeli domestic intelligence agency Shin Bet ( שב ). Hasson is a member of the Knesset, the Israeli parliament.

Life and work

Hasson was born in Syria and emigrated at the age of seven years to Israel. He was almost 23 years to the Israeli domestic intelligence service Shin Bet in various positions and was, for example, worked for the recruitment of new agents as well as commander of various military operations, for which services he was awarded several times. In addition, he also served as an Israeli Middle East envoy, participated in negotiations for the Wye agreement, participated in agreements on the status of Taba and Hebron, and accompanied the Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak during a meeting with PLO leader Yasser Arafat for the solution of the Israeli- Palestinian conflict at Camp David.

From 1997 to 1999 he was finally appointed under Ami Ayalon deputy director of intelligence. After Avi Dichter was appointed in 2000 as the new head of Shin Bet, Hasson resigned from his post and founded an energy company.

In 2006 he was elected as a candidate of Jisra'el Beiteinu in the 17th Knesset.

For much controversy he caused the end of April 2007, when he warned the Jewish population of Israel on the occasion of the 59th independence day before a violent, possible conflict with the Arab population. Literally, he spoke of a " new war of independence ".

In 2008 he moved to Kadima.
