Yo soy Betty, la fea ( German: "I am Betty, the Ugly " ) is an internationally successful telenovela, which was filmed in the years 1999-2001 in Colombia, directed by Mario Ribero Ferreira. The main roles were Ana María Orozco Jorge Enrique Abello and Natalia Ramírez. There were a total of 169 episodes.

The title character, Beatriz Pinzón Solano is to start an unattractive but intelligent woman with braces and thick glasses who works as a secretary for a fashion company and is constantly exposed to the ridicule of their nicer colleagues. Finally, however, she makes a career, improving their appearance and begins a relationship with her ​​boss.

The series will be broadcast internationally, so it already enjoys cult status, for example, in Serbia and Croatia.

Later the program with Eco moda (2001) has continued. The plot of the series served internationally as a model for several other television series, such as in Germany for Love in Berlin, in the U.S. for the dramedy Ugly Betty! ( Ugly Betty ) and Spain Yo soy Bea.
