Yolanda Be Cool

Yolanda Be Cool is an Australian band consisting of the duo Sylvester Martinez and Johnson Peterson. Together with the derived also from Australia producer DCUP ( Duncan MacLennan ) they published in 2010, the international dance hit We No Speak Americano. The band name is probably derived from the final scene in the movie Pulp Fiction, in which Yolanda (also called Honey Bunny ) is invited by Jules to stay cool.

We No Speak Americano

The piece is based on the Neapolitan song Tu Vuo Fà L' Americano ( You want the Americans play ) by Renato Carosone from the year 1956. Internationally known it in the film It Started in Naples (1960), in which it sung by Sophia Loren will. Later it was also used again in the film The Talented Mr. Ripley. Recent use it was now again in 2010 in the movie The American by Anton Corbijn.

A characteristic feature of We No Speak Americano is the fourth jump from B to F and back. This is partly varies, but always used in the chorus.

The song reached number one on the West German, Austrian, Swiss, Danish, Dutch and Swedish charts and reached the top five in Australia, Spain, Bulgaria and Norway. In Italy, Belgium and New Zealand, there was also represented on the charts. In Australia and Switzerland, the single went platinum, in the Federal Republic of Germany and Austria in gold.
