Yousaf Raza Gillani

Makhdoom Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani ( Urdu مخدوم سيد يوسف رضا گیلانى, also Yusuf Raza Gilani; born June 9, 1952 in Karachi) was the 26th Prime Minister of Pakistan in the coalition government of Pakistan People's Party, Pakistan Muslim League, Awami National Party, the Muttahida Qaumi movement and the National Party Balochistan.

He was relieved of his duties in 2012.

Life

Rise

Gilani comes from a politically and religiously prominent family of Iranian origin in Multan, Punjab. His father Syed Musa Pak was a famous dervish at the Qadiri Sufis, whose founder, Abdul- Qadir Gilani of the mystics came from the Iranian province of Gilan. After the completion of the study of journalism at the University of the Punjab with an MA in 1976, he began his political activities in the Muslim League.
