Youssef Mohamad
Youssef Wasef "Dodo " Mohamad (Arabic يوسف واصف محمد ) ( born July 1, 1980 in Beirut, Lebanon) is a Lebanese football player.
Career
Association
Mohamad started with the game of football in his home in Safa Beirut SC, with whom he was 2000 Cup finalist. In 2002, the central defender for Premier League rivals Olympic Beirut. With this club he became in 2003 the Lebanese league and cup. At the beginning of the 2004/05 season Mohamad joined on the recommendation of his compatriot Roda Antar for SC Freiburg in the Bundesliga. He completed 29 games for the Breisgauer, went with them up at season's end, however, repulsed as Table in the Second Bundesliga from. As of the 1st FC Cologne on 18 July 2007 announced on his website, Mohamad had signed a contract for the 2007 /08 season after tough negotiations in the Rhine countries. The Kicker sports magazine classified Mohamad in December 2007 after the Mainz Nikolce Noveski as the second- best center-back Bundesliga 2 a. With four goals in the first half of the season 2007/ 08 he was also the highest-scoring defender. Since the second half of the 2009/2010 season Youssef Mohamad was captain of the 1st FC Cologne. He handed the office on 5 January 2011 to Lukas Podolski.
On the first day of the season 2010/2011 he was expelled in the 1:3 home defeat of the 1st FC Cologne against 1 FC Kaiserslautern early as the second minute game because of an emergency brake of the field and was at this time the player with the fastest sending-off (red card) in the Bundesliga history. The DFB sports court detained him then for three league games. This record but was undercut in the same season by Marcel Titsch - Rivero.
On 20 August 2011, the 1st FC Cologne announced that Mohamad will switch to Al -Ahli in the United Arab Emirates. The FC corresponded to the desire Mohamad, who wanted to live closer to his family in Lebanon. As a replacement for Mohamad in central defense, the Portuguese Henrique Sereno was loaned for one year from FC Porto.
National
For the Lebanese selection Mohamad completed so far 38 games and took part in the Asia Cup in 2000 partly in their own country. He was also from November 2004 to August 2005 captain of his country selection. After fierce criticism of his federation (Fédération Libanaise de Football Association ) and at its national coach Adnan Meckdache he was suspended by the Lebanese Association. He may not return again if he apologizes to the association and the coach for his critical attitude, which Mohamad but refused because he saw himself in the right.
However, he was appointed in late 2012 for the internationals against Australia, Yemen, Qatar and Iran from German coach Theo Bücker.
