Youth of the European People's Party

The Youth of the European People's Party ( YEPP, English for Youth of the European People's Party) is the youth organization of the European People's Party ( EPP).

In German-speaking boy Union of Germany, the Young People's Party of Austria and the boy are Christian Democratic People 's Party of Switzerland, the young generation in the South Tyrolean People's Party and the Christian Social Youth of Luxembourg member associations of YEPP.

The first president of YEPP Fredrik Reinfeldt is the current Prime Minister of Sweden (since 2006 and 2010 confirmed ).

Substantive Profile

Principle

YEPP, founded in 1997 is the Youth of the European People's Party ( EPP), the merger of the Christian Democrat and Conservative parties in Europe. YEPP represents 51 national youth organizations with approximately 1.4 million members.

Political Position

The basic values ​​of YEPP are freedom, democratic state of law, social market economy, a united Europe and subsidiarity. YEPP is committed to Christian-Jewish culture of Europe. Turkey's full membership in the EU will be rejected. In addition YEPP want to raise awareness of climate change in order to ensure for future generations and their livelihoods now. Furthermore recognizes YEPP the demographic development in Europe as a great challenge and tried thus to contribute to contribute to intergenerational justice.

Outline / organs

YEPP divided into three bodies: Congress ( Congress), Council ( Council) and Executive Board (Board). The Congress is the supreme body of YEPP and are carried out every two years. It is similar to a party congress. The Congress elects the Executive Board determines the policy guidelines and work plan of YEPP. The voters of the Congress are made up of the members of the board and the delegates of the member organizations (Number of voting rights, as of 2009: 213).

The Council is the supreme body between congresses and meets four times a year. The members of the Council on the one hand, the members of the Board, each a delegate of a member organization and a representative of the observer organizations. The main tasks of the Council are to formulate the policy positions of YEPP to decide which candidates the observer status is awarded to give the Congress recommendations regarding candidates for full membership and to plan the budget.

The board is responsible for the daily political work and meets at least four times a year. The Board shall be composed of the President, a First Vice-President, nine Vice-Presidents, a Secretary and a Deputy Secretary-General. The members of the Board may not be older than 35 years. The Board is the executive body of YEPP. It implements the decisions of the Council and to Congress, representing YEPP in other institutions and organizations, preparing Council meetings and makes recommendations to the Council and Congress recommendations on the inclusion or exclusion of member and observer organizations.
