Øystein Sørensen

Øystein Sørensen ( born October 17, 1954 in Strømmen ) is a Norwegian historian.

Life

Sørensen was a Marxist -Leninist in his youth, but was excluded from SUF (ml ) ( Socialist Youth Group) in the years 1971 to 1972 because of " leftist deviation ". In 1981 he earned the degree Candidatus philologiæ ( cand.philol ). In 1983 he published the book Fra Marx til Quisling. Fem sosialisters vei til NS ( dt From Marx to Quisling. The paths five Socialists to the NS). It's about five former socialists, the National Socialists were: Eugène Olaussen, Sverre Krogh, Halvard Olsen, Albin One and Håkon Meyer. Then he turned to the history of Norway in the 19th century, by 1984 the book 1880 -arenes. 10 år som rystet Norge (Eng. The 1880s. Decade that rocked Norway ) published. With a dissertation on the belief Anton Martin Schweigaards he received his doctorate in 1988, Dr. phil.

In the 1990s, he has written books on Fascism and National Socialism in Norway. He also wrote several articles for the Encyclopedia Norsk krigsleksikon 1940-1945 (German Norwegian war lexicon 1940-1945 ). He became a professor at the University of Oslo in 1996. Later in the 1990s he devoted himself to nationalism in Norway, by written biographies of Fridtjof Nansen and Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson. In the early 2000s he published the series idéhistorie Norsk ( Norwegian German history of ideas ) together with Trond Berg Eriksen. In 2004, he was together with Hans Fredrik Dahl book Et rettferdig oppgjør? Rettsoppgjøret i Norge etter 1945 (Eng. An equitable solution? The court settlement in Norway after 1945 ) out. In the same year he published the book histories om det som ikke skjedde (Eng. The story about the one that did not happen ), which is about the counterfactual history. Two years later, he published the book The store sammensvergelsen. Histories om det hemme celled selskapet Illuminatus og dets mange ugjerninger (Eng. The Great Conspiracy. Illuminatus The story of the secret society and its many misdeeds ), in which he examined conspiracy theories about the Illuminati. In 2010 published the book Sørensen Drømmen om det fullkomne samfunn (Eng. The dream of a perfect society ), the various totalitarian ideologies compared.
