The Jubileiny Sports Complex (Russian Спортивный комплекс « Юбилейный ") is a multi-purpose arena in St. Petersburg, Russia. It is located near the Petrovsky stadium, and is accessible via the Metro station Sportivnaya.

History

The central building has a circular floor plan with a diameter of 94 m and a height of 22 m. The sports complex was prepared by a group of architects to GP Morozov and A. P. Morozov designed and built in 1967. Was donated to the construction of the unions of the Soviet Union as a gift to the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the October Revolution. 1971 were the architects of the USSR State Prize for their design and implementation.

The large arena has ice hockey a crowd of 7,012 spectators; which can be increased to 7,700 at the basketball courts. The smaller ice rink offers 1,900 spectators. The sports complex adjacent to the main arena and the smaller ice rink are another ice rink for public skating and training as well as various technical parts of the building.

Between 2007 and 2009, the interior of the main arena was completely renovated. The seats have been renewed, built VIP boxes, a new sound system and a video cube installed.

Use

The Arena was home since the opening of a variety of sports, concert and congress events. This included the Ice Hockey World Championship for Men 2000. Between 1968 and 1999, the Jubileiny Sports Complex was the home ground of ice hockey club SKA St. Petersburg, who moved in 1999 to the Ice Palace and the Jubileiny only used as a fallback venue. Today, the BK Spartak Saint Petersburg, a basketball team, as well as the ice hockey club HK WMF Saint Petersburg SKA -1946 and MIC play their home matches at the sports complex.

Jubilejny sports club

The ice rink sports complex is home to the " Jubilejny sports clubs," a well-known training center for figure skating. Alexei Mishin, Igor Moskvin and Tamara Moskvina worked there as manager following athletes (selection):
