Igor Moskvin

Igor Borisovich Moskvin (Russian Игорь Борисович Москвин, born August 30, 1929 in Bryansk ) is a Russian former figure skater, who started in pair skating for the Soviet Union and a former figure skating coach.

Moskvin was 1952-1954 Soviet champion in pair skating at the side of Maja Belenkaya. 1956 denied the couple his only European Championship and finished it in eleventh place. In addition to his skating career, he also took part in yacht races and won some regattas in the fifties.

After hanging up his competitive career was Moskvin coach in Leningrad. His students included Tamara Bratus, Larissa Selezneva and Oleg Makarov, Igor Bobrin, Yuri Ovchinnikov and Vladimir Kotin.

Tamara Bratus in 1957 his pupil and his wife in 1964. Together they have two daughters, Olga and Anna.

Moskvin was the standard bearer of the Soviet Union at the Olympic Games 1964 in Innsbruck.

He finished after the introduction of the new rating system in 2004 his coaching career.
