Yukon Legislative Assembly

The Legislative Assembly of Yukon (English Yukon Legislative Assembly, French Assemblée du Yukon legislature ) is the legislature of the Canadian territory of Yukon. It meets in the Parliament building in Whitehorse. Its main tasks include the adoption of new laws, approving the state budget and the government's control.

The Legislative Assembly to include 19 members, who are elected in as many constituencies by majority voting system. The leader of the majority party is the same prime minister and faces the government.

Forerunner of today's Territorial Parliament was the 1900-1978 existing Yukon Territorial Council ( Yukon Territorialrat ). It included ten non-party members who advised the Commissioner appointed by the federal government. Following the adoption of a new electoral law in 1977, the Council was replaced the following year.
