Yukta Mookhey

Yukta Mookhey Inderlal (also Yukta Mukhi, born October 7, 1979 in Mumbai, Maharashtra ) is an Indian model and won the 1999 title of Miss World.

Biography

Mookheys family comes from northern India but lived in the Middle East to the Indian subcontinent Yukta was seven years old. The family moved back in the summer of 1986 to Mumbai. Yukta Mookhey studied zoology at Kelkar college. She is also a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP ), a nationalist party in India.

Since November 2, 2008, she is married to Prince Tuli. The marriage was held in the form of a traditional Sikh ceremony.

Miss World

1999 Mookhey was elected Miss India World and could therefore participate in the Miss World contest. The election for the 49th Miss World took place on 4 December 1999 at the Olympia in London. Was hosted by Ulrika Jonsson and Melanie Sykes. 94 people from around the world took part. Yukta Mookhey prevailed in the final against Miss Venezuela Martina Thorogood Miss South Africa Sonia Raciti and Heemsen and thus became the fourth Miss World from India.
