Yuri Gavrilov

Yuri Vasilyevich Gavrilov (Russian Юрий Васильевич Гаврилов; May 3, 1953 at the village of Zeitun, Rajon Odintsovo in the Moscow Oblast ) is a retired Soviet football player and football coach.

Gavrilov began his career as a football player at Iskra Moscow, since 1973, he played for Dynamo Moscow, but it does not succeed in a regular place in the first team to achieve this team. In 1977 he moved to Spartak Moscow. Spartak attacking midfielder acquired the role of a prolific playmaker quickly. In 1979 he was with Spartak Soviet champion and 1981 he was with his team in the Soviet Cup final, which was, however, lost to the SKA Rostov 0:1. In 1983 Spartak was a Soviet runner and Gavrilov was top scorer of the highest Soviet League, the Wysschaja league.

For the Soviet national team played Gavrilov 1978-1985 a total of 46 times and scored ten goals. In football tournament of the 1980 Olympic Games he won the bronze medal with the Soviet team. In 1982 he took part in the World Championships in Spain.

From the year 1985 Gavrilov subsequently moved for a season to Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk, then to Lokomotiv Moscow. In 1988, he moved to Finland for club Pallo - Toverit porin, which was later renamed to FC Jazz Pori. As early as 1989, however, he returned back to Lokomotiv Moscow. In the following years Gavrilov played then among other things Presnja Moscow, Saturn Ramenskoje as well as for clubs in Moldova.

In Moldova, he began in 1996 his career as a football coach at FC Tiraspol. In 2001, he trained for a short time the national team DR Congo. In 2003, he supervised briefly Torpedo Metallurg Moscow, today's FK Moscow.

Gavrilov is today, besides Fyodor Cherenkov, one of the most popular former players of Spartak Moscow and regularly comes in veterans teams in this association are used.
