The Yūshio class (Japaneseゆうしお 型, Yūshio - gata ) was a class of ten conventional hunting submarines of the Japanese sea Self-Defense Forces ( JMSDF ).
General
The 1980-1989 was put into service class was a development of the Uzushio class. They were double-hulled boats and followed with the Bugsonar and to a position amidships offset outwardly angled torpedo tubes the example of the American Navy. After commissioning of the last U- boat of the following Harushio class boats Yūshio class between 1999 and 2008 were decommissioned and replaced by the Oyashio class.
The Akishio (SS -579 ) is on display since 2007 in the " JMSDF Kure Museum ".
