Yusuf Lule

Yusuf Lule Kironde (* 1912; † 22 January 1985 in London) was a Ugandan politician.

Lule was a professor and director of Makerere University. In 1978 he was in Moshi ( Tanzania) a co-founder of the Uganda National Liberation Front ( UNLF ), which actively participated in the invasion of Tanzanian troops in Uganda and the overthrow of Idi Amin.

On April 13, 1979 then the National Consultative Council (NCC ) has been used as a Parliament and appointed by the UNLF Lule as president because he was accepted as academics among otherwise in the majority of military -trained leaders of the NCC most likely as a compromise. But he was already replaced on June 20, 1979 under influence of the Tanzanian President Julius Nyerere by Godfrey Binaisa.

In February 1981, the National Resistance Movement (NRM ) was founded in the south of Uganda under Lules leadership.
