Yves Bot

Yves Bot ( born August 22, 1947 in Château- Thierry ) is a French lawyer and since 2006 as a member of the European Court of Justice Advocate General.

Career

Yves Bot studied law at the University of Rouen and his doctorate at the University of Paris II Panthéon- Assas. He began his career in 1970 as an auditor in a court. He was then from 1974 to 1982 in Le Mans first official lawyer and then worked as a prosecutor in Dieppe. In 1984 he became Deputy Public Prosecutor at the Regional Court in Strasbourg and in 1986 a prosecutor in Bastia in Corsica. Once in Corsica, he worked two years, he became Advocate General at Companies based in Caen Court of Appeals. Then he worked as a prosecutor in Le Mans. 1993-1995 he was then working as Special Representative of the Minister of Justice. He returned thereafter in his career as a prosecutor back and worked for seven years in the function in Nanterre. 2002 Bot prosecutor in Paris and 2004, Advocate General at the Cour d'appel de Paris, the Court of Appeal of Paris. On 7 October 2006, he was then Advocate General at the European Court.

Yves Bot seen as politically conservative with a certain proximity to Nicolas Sarkozy. Throughout his career in the French courts, he was repeatedly involved in the procedures with a political background. He was involved in his work as a prosecutor in Le Mans together with the examining magistrate Jean -Pierre Thierry in investigations against confidant of the then French President François Mitterrand. During his time in Nanterre he put a stop to the attempt to hear Jacques Chirac in connection with a scandal of the RPR. As the Advocate General in Paris, he was entrusted with the reforms of the French prosecutor's office.

As Advocate General, he represented in the final request for a preliminary ruling to the German pharmacy law the view that the German rules with freedom of establishment in the Treaty on European Union were compatible.
