Żabin, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship

Zabin ( German Klein Szabienen, 1936-1938 Klein damage bees, 1938-1945 Kleinlautersee ) is a village in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and is part of the rural community Banie Masurian ( Benkheim ) in Gołdapski powiat ( county Goldap ).

Geographical location

Zabin is located two kilometers south of the Polish- Russian border and is on a side street off Banie Masurian ( Benkheim ) in the province road 650 after Dąbrówka ( Dombrowken ) and continue to Budry ( Buddern ) leads to achieve. History

Small Szabienen was mentioned in 1539 for the first time. Under the great plague 1709/1710 also had this place to suffer severely. In the almost deserted village, many foreign people settled, including many Lithuanians and Mazury, later also Swiss, Neuchatel, Grisons and the Palatinate, and Halberstadt. In 1818 lived in small Szabienen 136 inhabitants, whose number increased to 1863 to 233. 1874 Post Office Szabienen village was counted in 1910 and 204 inhabitants.

In the politically and ideologically motivated renaming wave on June 3, 1938 - officially confirmed on 16 July 1938 - Klein received damage bees the new name " Kleinlautersee " and belonged until 1945 to the district Darkehmen ( 1938-1946 Angerapp ) in the district of the Prussian province of East Prussia Gumbinnen.
