Zack Whyte

Zack Whyte or Zach Whyte (* 1898 in Richmond, Kentucky, † March 10, 1967 in Kentucky) was an American jazz bandleader and banjo player. He became known as the head of the band Chocolate Beau Brummels Territory.

Biography

Zack Whyte studied at Wilberforce University, where worked as a banjo player in the band of Horace Henderson and arranged pieces for him. In the early 1920s he began from Cincinnati to work with his own bands and then formed his Chocolate Beau Brummels at the end of the decade. With this band he recorded records for Gennett Records, Supertone Records and Champion Records. Some of these recordings were released under pseudonyms such as " Eddie Walker & His Band " and "Smoke Jackson & His Red Onions ".

In Zack Whyte's bands played many well-known jazz musicians such as Quentin Jackson, Herman Chittison, Jerry Blake, Truck Parham, George Hudson, Sy Oliver, Roy Eldridge, Vic Dickenson and Al Sears.
