Zafer Çağlayan

Mehmet Zafer Çağlayan (* November 15, 1957 in Muş ) is a Kurdish origin Turkish mechanical engineer, industrialist, politician and former cabinet minister Erdoğan III.

He graduated from the Faculty of Engineering ( Mechanical Engineering Engineering ) at the Gazi University in Ankara. Then Çağlayan worked as an industrialist. In 1987 he became member of the Council of the Association of Industrialists in Ankara. He was appointed as a member of the governing body of the Association in 1989. In 1991 he became Deputy Chairman of the Association and in 1995 chairman. This position had Çağlayan held until 2007 he was a total of three times Vice President of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges Association of Turkey ( TOBB ). Zafer Çağlayan was a member of the Management Committee of the TOBB University.

Mehmet Zafer Çağlayan was on August 29, 2007 Member of the second cabinet of the AKP government under Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in which he was Commerce and Industry Minister until 1 May 2009, and then Minister of State for Foreign Trade. After the 2011 general election, he joined the Cabinet Erdoğan III. the department and became the Minister of Economy. In December 2013, he resigned as a result of Korruptionsskanals in Turkey in 2013.

Çağlayan is married and has two children.
