Zagorsk Pumped Storage Station

F1

The pumped storage power plant Sagorsk (Russian Загорская гидроаккумулирующая электростанция ) is the only pumped storage power plant in Russia. It is located near the town of Sergiev Posad ( the 1930-1991 Sagorsk called) in the Moscow Oblast. It is located 67 km from Moscow on the river Kunja and is owned by the power company RusHydro / Mosenergo based in Moscow.

Power plant Sagorsk -1

The construction of the first Russian pumped storage power station (also power plant Sagorsk -1 called ) was adopted in 1974. In December 1987, the first two reversible pump turbines took over the business on, the full power of 1200 MW and 1320 MW in turbine operation in pump operation reached the power plant in 2000, with now six Francis turbines. The upper reservoir is formed by a ring dam, serves as a pool of Kunja, a tributary of the Dubna. The height between the upper basin and lower basin is only 100 m, for a pumped storage power plants comparatively small drop height. Six pressure pipes each consist of 18 segments with a length of 40 m and a diameter of 7.5 m. The connection to the electricity grid via a 500 kV substation. In 2004, the power plant Sagorsk was the world's eighth largest pumped storage power plant based on the installed turbine power.

Power plant Sagorsk -2

Currently, close to the existing power plant power plant Sagorsk -1 is built the power plant Sagorsk -2. Planned are four turbines manufacturer Silowye Mashiny ( which Siemens is involved) with a capacity of 210 MW. The work for this started in 2007. Originally it was assumed that the first two turbines in 2010 and the other two should go into operation in 2012. Meanwhile, it is assumed that a completion of Sagorsk -2 in 2014. Sagorsk -2 will have a capacity of 840 MW. The start of construction in 2007, construction costs were cited by a total of 850 million U.S. dollars. The connection to the mains supply should be via a 90 km long 500 kV high- voltage line.

In the night of 17 to 18 September 2013, a serious incident has occurred: In the advanced stage of construction, after delivery of generators and turbines, water is massively penetrated the building. The cause is suspected in a lowering of the floor. The incident could have led to major damage and possibly lead to the fact that significantly delayed the completion of Sagorsk 2. People were not used in this incident to damage.
