Zagreb TV Tower

The TV Tower Zagreb is a 169 meters high, executed in reinforced concrete television tower on the 1035 meters high mountain Sljeme. It is operated by the Odašiljači i veze doo, a subsidiary of the Croatian broadcaster Hrvatska Radiotelevizija and the telecommunications company T -Hrvatski Telekom. The tower itself is 92 meters high, with the attached 77 -meter antenna, the total height 169 meters.

History

The tower was built from 1973 to 1976 and officially inaugurated on 15 May 1976. For the public, the tower is not accessible, although in 75 meters height space for a tower restaurant is available. This platform was to replace an earlier wooden observation tower that was built in 1870 on the highest peak of the Zagreb Bear Mountain massif. On September 16, 1991, the TV Tower Zagreb was damaged during the Croatian War of the Yugoslav People's Army by a missile, which led to the failure of the send operation. A few years later, the transmission system was put into operation again.
