Zahle and Forzol

The archeparchy Zahle and Furzol (Latin: Archieparchia Mariamnensis Graecorum Melkitarum ) is a facility located in Lebanon archeparchy the Melkite Greek Catholic church located in Zahle.

History

The diocese Furzol was founded in the 4th century by the Holy Archbishop Berdanos. Today's " archeparchy Zahle and Furzol " was built in 1724 Eparchy of Zahle and Furzol. 1727 was the bishop's seat of Furzol after Zahle. The reigning around 1727 Archbishop Eftimios Fadel said for himself and his diocese unity with the Latin Church in Rome and recognized the Pope as head of the Eastern Churches. He was also the builder of the cathedral to Zahle, 1774 the designation of " Eparchy of Zahle and Furzol " added to " Zahle and Furzol and all Bakaa " whose historical name it also leads today. Geographical location

The territory of the diocese extends for the most part over the Bekaa district and has about 450,000 inhabitants, of which approximately 110,000 are Christians of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church.
