Zapicán is a place in Uruguay.
Geography
It is located in the Cuchilla de Palomeque in the north of the department of Lavalleja in the sector 11, José Batlle y Ordóñez southeast of. The south to the department capital Minas is located 123 km away.
History
The village was founded in 1887 by Pablo Fernández.
Infrastructure
In the southern part of the village, the Ruta 40 and Ruta 14 clash. By Zapicán leads the railway line Montevideo - Nico Pérez - Río Branco. The surrounding area is characterized by extensive Zapicáns livestock.
Population
The population Zapicáns is 553 (as of 2011), of which 291 male and 262 female. Since 1963 is recorded in Zapicán a steady population decline.
