Záskalie
Záskalie (Hungarian Sziklahát - to 1907 Zászkal ) is a municipality in the north-western Slovakia with 185 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2011) and belongs to Okres Považska Bystrica, Trenčín Region of a circle.
Geography
The municipality is located in the mountains Súľovské Hills in a small boiler switched on Bach Manínsky creek. The place is accessible only by two narrow gorges: the Manínska tiesňava westward to Považska Teplá (part of Považská Bystrica ) or Kostolecká tiesňava eastward to Kostolec and Vrchteplá. The center is located at an altitude of 470 m nm and is located eight kilometers from Považská Bystrica.
History
Záskalie was first mentioned in 1397 as Chonkakwmegye writing what " of truncated rocks closed place " means something like.
