Zdeněk Tylšar

Zdeněk Tylšar ( born April 29, 1945 in Vrahovice, † 18 August 2006), was a Czech horn player, professor at the Faculty of Music of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, one of the leading Czech musicians of the 20th century.

Biography

Tylšar began with the horn playing at the age of twelve years and was recorded in 1958 at the Brno Conservatory in the class of Horn František Šolc. He finished 1964 at the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno His musical education. During his studies he worked in the orchestra of the Janáček Opera in Brno.

In 1965 he was hired as a bugler in the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, where he worked for more than 40 years and since 1967 as principal horn. With his achievements, he contributed greatly to the fame of the orchestra.

After successes in international competitions in Prague, Munich and Geneva his solo career began. He worked with the London Chamber Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg together and realized recordings (LP, CD ) for the label Pony Canyon (both today Pony Canyon ) and Supraphon. His repertoire included virtuoso horn concertos and a number of new works attributed to him.

He also was a chamber musician. With his brother Bedřich Tylšar he made records and radio recordings. The brothers gave concerts with two solo horns ( Rosetti, Haydn, Fiala, Reicha ) where complemented each other well. Zdeněk Tylšar worked with Munclingers Ars Rediviva, Collegium Musicum Pragense, Collegium Tripartitum, Solistes Européens Luxembourg together.

He also worked as a teacher. In the 1970s, he was one of the youngest teachers at the Faculty of Music at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (since 1997 professor ). He taught master classes and was a jury member at international competitions interpretation in Munich, Osaka, Bonn.
